Students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities face barriers to medical school admission, study finds

There are 45.3 million African Americans living in the United States and they represent 13.6% of the U.S. population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. But only 5.7% of physicians in the United States self-identify as Black, despite multiple efforts over many years to increase the number of Black doctors.
