WestPack has two sites, its larger production facility in Sheffield caters for all grades including heavy duty. Its sister site in Kirkby is a more conventional sheet plant, it is not able to produce heavy duty boxes.
It is very far between the two sites, but the factory in Kirkby also receives regular orders for heavy cardboard boxes. Previously customers had their production completed at the Sheffield plant and then transported to Kirkby for delivery to the customer.
Due to the high cost of transport, the number of heavy cardboard orders has gradually increased. As a result, the customer was keen to purchase an heavy duty corrugated box making machine for Kirkby factory.

This customer already had equipment for making heavy duty cartons at the Ashfield plant.
